Denim Tears is the label of Tremaine Emory, who uses clothing to tell the story of the African diaspora. Its best-known symbol, the Cotton Wreath, turns the cotton plant into a memorial: a reminder of the enslaved people who worked America's cotton fields, worn in their honour. Collaborations with Levi's, Converse and Stüssy carried the wreath far beyond the brand's own drops.
The Mono version takes a quieter approach: the Cotton Wreaths are printed tone-on-tone in navy on a navy cotton body, so the motif shows through texture rather than contrast. A regular fit with ribbed cuffs and hem and a kangaroo pocket make it an easy everyday piece.
