Under Demna, Balenciaga kept testing what a shoe could be. One season meant exaggerated runners, the next a stripped-down molded form. The Mold line from 2022 is the second kind: a slip-on made in a single molded piece, with no laces, no stitching and no unnecessary parts.
The closed version has a fully covered toe, a chunky, rounded silhouette and an all-black finish. It sits somewhere between clog, slip-on and sculpture, an object-like shoe typical of Demna’s era at the house.
